Apo Golf & Country Club lies in the foothills of Mt. Apo and Mt. Talomo in the Southern part of the City of Davao.  The Par 72 golf course stretches over 7,079 yards of fairways, bunkers, lakes and waterways.  AGCC was the home of the 1995 Philippine Open, the only venue to have hosted the event outside of Luzon.  Water is in play in 13 of its 18 holes and 64 bunkers protect the greens and fairways.  The course demands accuracy off the tees and a sharp long game.  Good shots will be rewarded with good lies and a relatively easy approach to the green.  Putting is not too difficult in the fairly large greens as local Zoysia grass is used and most of the caddies are familiar with the twists and breaks of the greens.  The fairways are a mix of bermuda and carabao grass which could be tricky when chipping and pitching.

What is now the Apo Golf & Country Club would not have existed if not for the generosity of the late Carlos V. Iñigo Sr., who volunteered 49 hectares of the Iñigo Estate for a token "downpayment" of Fifty Thousand Pesos, with the balance payable in membership certificates.  The golf course was soon carved out of what was formerly a coconut plantation of the Iñigo family.

With the land in place, engineering contractor H.R. Lopez, together with the late Antonio Hernandez & Ricardo Gulanes helped design the shape of the golf course to what it is today.  They were ably assisted by the late professional golfer Mateo Sanchez Sr., who oversaw the work being done during the construction and to whom credit of certain parts of the design is given to.  In April of 1965, the first 9 holes of the club were inaugurated.

In June of 1968, the second 9 holes were formally launched through the almost single handed efforts of the late Mr. Conrado Alcantara.  CA as he was most fondly called devoted much of his free time and resources to help finish the scenic 18-hole golf complex.  With the design of Arch. Orland Quimpo and the construction firm of Architect Ramon Solitaria, the current golf clubhouse and adjacent sports facilities were built.
